A QUIET AFTERNOON

New life: equal parts exciting and exhausting. Soft baby skin and wide eyes searching. Helpful hands and squeals wanting in on all the action. Quiet, soul-bonding moments between a mother and infant. The seedlings of what will expand an eternal relationship in brother- and sisterhood. I'm excited to see these roots deepen as these children celebrate life together and carry each other through it all.

Capturing these small nuances of motherhood and childhood during an afternoon at home, even with its inevitable meltdowns, (not pictured, but let's face it--every family has them) makes me feel more alive than anything else. That is, outside of my first-hand experiences of motherhood.
